PRO-telligent, A Tetra Tech Company is seeking a VMware System Administrator to provide IT technical support to a Department of State’s (DoS) program in Springfield, VA. The position may have the opportunity to provide some support remotely and is available immediately. Requires a Top Secret clearance.
The Project
Department of State / Bureau of Information Resource Management (Foreign Operations / IT Infrastructure)
  • Tetra Tech has supported IRM for more than 20 years
  • Current contract end date is January 2026
  • Dress code is casual dress attire

The Position
  • Monitor virtual machines to ensure availability
  • Build and document baseline security authorized VMware configs to meet security compliance specifications
  • Monitor security patches and perform upgrades to VMware systems as required by security
  • Configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and overall support of multiple VMware environments
  • Setup, install, configure, and triage ESXi hosts
  • Maintain and restore VM backups and snapshots
  • Perform system monitoring, analyzing, documenting performance, and conducting trend analysis
  • Develop technical documentation, including SOPs, user guides, disaster recovery, and failover

Requirements
  • Top Secret Clearance required
  • 2 Years of progressive skills managing and deploying VMware in a large enterprise WAN environment.
  • Strong knowledge of VMware 6.5 or higher to include vCenter, vSphere, and ESX 6.x
  • Strong knowledge of Linux
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP network protocol stacks and how they are leveraged in a VMware environment.
  • Strong knowledge of IPv4.
  • Some skills working in an IPv6 environment.
