About the Role
In the position of Staff Engineer, you would be located at our Santa Clara, CA - Advance Technology Center (ATC), leading the product deployment of ceramic pedestal and Electro-Static Chuck thermal systems as a system designer
As a Systems Designer, you will engage with semiconductor customers and ceramic heater development teams to implement cutting-edge thermal solutions, foster lasting customer relationships, provide timely responsiveness and on-site support, understand customer application needs, and promote benefits of Watlow ATS solutions. You will help develop the next generation of wafer processing chambers with the world’s leading tool suppliers. This role is an extension of the larger E&C (Electronics and Control) team in Winona, MN.
The role requires responsive, concise technical communication to determine customer requirements and translate them into product solutions. Consultation and support with internal team members is required to advance solutions. The ideal candidate can work independently, serve as a technical mentor and build internal and customer partnerships. Training for this role will be conducted primarily in Santa Clara, CA and Winona, MN. Worldwide travel is occasionally required to customers and other Watlow sites based on need.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Engage with customer to provide in-chamber ceramic pedestal and ESC solutions.
- Support the pedestal and ESC development teams to help them create optimal ceramic heater design.
- Work with the E&C development teams to optimize control system for new and existing ceramic heaters.
- Help customers learn and implement ATS technology
- Troubleshoot issues at customer and internal testing sights.
- Identify opportunities for new products or processes
- Participating in environment of customers (EOC) and voice of customer (VOC) activities to influence identification of customer needs/opportunity
- Assisting ceramic heater engineers in understand performance tradeoff with data from test runs and desired system behaviors
- Developing, executing, and evaluating project plans/Design of Experiments (DOEs)
- Supporting product/process validation and resolution of customer problems
- Experience with thermal control systems or semiconductor processes
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Solid understanding of basic electrical theory
- Solid understanding of thermodynamics
- Advance degree in Field of Specialization, Bachelor’s in Engineering or related field.
- 5-8 years of job experience.
