JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION SERVER (SV)
SUPERVISOR Dining Services Supervisor (DSS), Dining Room Supervisor (DRS)
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the guidance of Dining Room Supervisor (if applicable) or
DSS, the server is responsible for ensuring a quality dining service is provided to our residents and their guests. The position requires excellent customer service, organizational and time- management skills in order ensure all residents’ and guests’ needs are met.
1- FRONT-OF-HOUSE
Under the direction of the DRS/DSS you will provide a high level of restaurant- style service, by paying attention to the details of service included in the list below:
- Tables are set properly.
- Daily and alternate menus are on tables
- Correctly receives salad, food and dessert orders from residents and guests.
- Does not serve food while wearing disposable gloves.
- Table settings and/or linen are washed properly
- Table settings and/or linens are wrinkle free and placed neatly on tables
- Linen napkins are folded for use.
- Salt and peppershakers and other condiments are filled and cleaned regularly.
- Table legs and chairs remain clean and dust free.
- Table positioning remains organized and easily-accessible
- Knows all residents who require a modified diet and what that diet is
2- MAINTAINS A CLEAN DINING ROOM
Servers will follow a routine daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedule, which will include, wiping off tables, chairs, vacuuming, and other cleaning assignments to ensure that the dining area is maintained in a professional sanitary manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB
RESPONSIBILITIES
1- Make certain that the tables are clean and well presented.
2- Make the dining experience pleasant.
3- Assists the Care Partners in meal service.
4- Serves meals and delivers meal trays.
5- Ensures service is conducted restaurant style, with food and beverages delivered table side on service trays.
6- Informs DSS and Cooks of residents’ comments pertaining to meals.
7- Clears and sets tables.

8- Washes and stores pots, pans and other kitchen equipment as needed after each meal. Also performs daily cleaning duties as outlined in the cleaning schedule.
9- Ensures proper bussing techniques are practiced.
10- Receives and stores front-of-house supplies.
11- Ensures safety and sanitation practices and procedures are adhered to.
12- Stays in compliance with Highgate’s Team Member handbook, policies, and procedures and with the state and local licensing guidelines.
13- Perform other related duties as assigned.
DAILY ROUTINE
1- Arrive and remain at work during the times designated by the DRS or DSS.
2- Serve meals, deliver trays, set tables, bus tables, clean the dining room, and wash dishes.
3- Follow-up as needed throughout the day.
4- Confer and verbally review potential areas of concern with the DSS/Cooks
Manor/Cottage Team Members and ED prior leaving for the day.
QUALIFICATIONS
1- 18 years of age
2- Possession of/or ability to obtain Food Handler’s Permit within thirty (30) days of hire—if applicable.
3- Proof of the ability to work in the US (I-9 form) within (3) days of hire, adhering to renewal documentation—if required
4- Health Screening & Finger printing (CA only); Fingerprint card (AZ only)
5- Negative Criminal record/background statement
6- Possess the ability to sit, stand, bend and move continuously during work hours and be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds with assistance (please see below
Physical Demands)
7- Must meet all criteria as required by state and local licensing agencies.
8- Ability to complete training/certifications within prescribed time frames by your supervisor.
9- Current or ability to obtain CPR & First Aid certification
10- Current TB test
11- The ability to be efficient and exercise good time management skills.
12- Good knowledge of customer service.
13- Ability to comply with Team Member Handbook, policies and procedures.

1- Knows each resident’s food preferences.
2- Provides restaurant-style service in the dining room.
3- Neat in appearance and good personal hygiene are expected.
4- Adheres to confidentiality policy regarding administrative, staff, and resident information.
5- Residents are to be treated with respect and dignity, protecting our residents’ rights.
6- Team Members will not work under the influence of illegal drugs of alcohol.
