Purchasing Assistant Job Summary:
The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day functions of the purchasing department. Duties to include, but not limited to, running daily reports, vendor contact, purchase orders, verifying delivery and pricing, and data entry.
Purchasing Assistant Essential Functions:
- Manage purchase order scheduling in ERP system to support production needs and organization
- Develop and manage relationships with suppliers and ensure they are meeting delivery and quality objectives
- Proactively drive the supply chain to meet and exceed our production floor's needs and eliminate any interruptions
- Manage multiple duties to complete daily, weekly, and monthly purchasing goals
- Expedite and coordinate deliveries of materials and supplies required to meet manufacturing schedules
- Advise management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production updates
- Ensure a smooth flow of materials through the production process and consistent information regarding status and priorities
- Work with supplier and accounting department to resolve invoicing issues
- Support and participate in cross-functional projects with department colleagues and other departments
- Learn to operate new office technology as they are developed and implemented
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Purchasing Assistant Qualifications:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Must have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines; must be good with follow-up
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and take initiative as needed to accomplish goals
- Team player with a "can do" attitude, flexibility, and adaptability
Purchasing Assistant Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years purchasing experience
