Night and Weekend Supervisor Job at Ronald McDonald House Charities
Overall Responsibility:
The night and weekend supervisor will provide management coverage for the operation of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Madison, Inc. (RMHC) in the absence of the House Director.
Expectations:
- Professionalism: Night and Weekend Supervisors represent RMHC and must demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and confidentiality in conduct and in communication of RMHC business and services.
- Hospitality: Familiarize guests with services available at the House and in Madison area and make the guests’ stay as comfortable and as uncomplicated as possible.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive and register all guests in accordance with Admissions Policy
- Uphold and enforce all House Rules and Policies.
- Maintain list of anticipated arrivals. Schedule occupancy and make room assignments according to the Policies of the House.
- Supervise volunteers and provide them with a rewarding volunteer experience.
- Communicate clearly with staff, volunteers, and families.
- Close office Mon-Fri close at 9pm, open office at 8am. Sat-Sun open office at 9am.
- Maintain all records and files pertaining to guests, occupancy, room donations, inventory, maintenance and supplies accurately.
- Provide an atmosphere of support, compassion and confidentiality to Houseguests while still maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Monitor condition of building, operation of building, mechanical and security systems, and operation of RMHC van. Communicate any needed repairs to the House Director.
- Efficiently update and enter House Guest information into the Guest Database.
- Comfortable directing House evacuation in event of a fire or weather emergency.
- Arrange for emergency maintenance repairs as needed while on duty per House Directors instructions.
- Communicate directly with the House Director regarding status of the House, guests, and any other relevant information.
- Attend staff information sessions.
- Conduct tours of the House as needed.
- Complete any additional tasks assigned by the House Director relating to the efficient operation of the House.
Qualifications and skills
- 1 year of experience with residential services or hospitality preferred
- Proficiency in a second language preferred
- Knowledge and skills in working with various cultures, languages, and religious beliefs.
- Dependable and trustworthy
- Friendly demeanor
- Reliable mode of transportation
- Excellent verbal communication skills
Job Type: Occasional employee, no healthcare benefits
Hours: Minimum number of expected shifts per month is two, four shifts is average.
One shift is defined as:
Night Shift: 5:00pm – 8:00am Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday*
Weekend Shift: 5:00pm – 5:00pm Friday through Saturday or Saturday through Sunday*
* Night/Weekend Supervisors have a bedroom to sleep overnight after office closes, but is on call during those overnight hours for emergencies, guest lockouts, etc.
Holiday coverage is required, as determined by House Director, but is allocated equitably across all Supervisors.
Daily shift coverage in absence of House Director as scheduled.
Training: Required to participate in approximately three hands-on “shadow” training sessions to become familiar with the mission and operations of RMHC. Training is paid on first paycheck with completion of at least two fill shifts.
