RPT’s multiple locations allow us to provide quality care throughout the valley including: Salt Lake City, Sandy, Midvale, Murray, Cottonwood Heights, West Jordan, South Jordan, Riverton, Herriman, Bluffdale, Draper, and Saratoga Springs. RPT offers a variety of services including out-patient orthopedic rehabilitation, sports medicine, industrial and workplace health, aquatic therapy, women’s health, inpatient/acute care, sports performance, and running analysis. We are looking for someone who will be a team player and can interact with people in an exceptional way – your interaction with patients and insurance carriers is one that culminates the tone for their entire treatment.

The primary responsibility of the Account Manager is to provide insurance payer and patient follow-up to ensure claims are paid according to contracts. This position is responsible to answer phone calls, reply to incoming correspondence and complies with all applicable laws regarding ethical billing standards. They will ensure financial obligations are met by the patient which includes the collections of copays, outstanding balances, and any payment plans available. The core responsibility of this role is to ensure efficient and accurate processing of patient claims.

Responsibilities

  • Works with physical therapists, front desk staff, and care coordinators to ensure company has all required information to treat patients with exceptional care – calling doctor offices and insurance carriers to get resolve claim issues, timely authorization, and accurately send patient statements
  • Be primary patient contact to answer questions about their account and balance
  • Review medical claims for accuracy for charges and payment, and make corrections as needed
  • Review medical claims for accuracy of charges and release to insurance carriers for processing
  • Initiate patient refund requests when patients have overpaid and submit to Resolution Specialist
  • Write appeals using established guidelines to resolve claim denials efficiently
  • Set up patient payment arrangements and communicate with patients to resolve outstanding balances
  • Follow up on underpaid/overpaid claims ensuring the allowed pricing was according to our payer contract
  • Identify trends causing slow payment and work with RCM Manager to reduce aging AR
  • Meet quality and production standards set by RPT
  • Help monitor data accuracy and notifies appropriate staff to ensure workflows are up to date
  • Perform other duties, as required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential job functions
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in stressful or difficult situations
  • Have knowledge of HIPPA regulations to ensure patient information is safe guarded
  • Be able to identify correct insurance coverage information
  • Be able to explain insurance benefits to patients in a way they can understand
  • Ability to be highly motivated while maintaining efficiency in a fast-paced environment without supervision
  • Ability to work in a clinic with multiple providers and services
  • Be able to learn new computer software and processes
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Qualifications

  • One year of office experience or equivalent work experience
  • Must be able to multi-task and work well with a team
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
  • Medical office experience: 1 year (Preferred)
  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
