Landscape Fleet & Equipment Mechanic Job at Schill Grounds Management
Description: JOB SUMMARY
A Mechanic is responsible for performing complex on-site diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance work on landscaping equipment. All employees are expected to carry out the company’s mission, vision, and values.
As a Mechanic at Schill Grounds Management, you must be able to perform the following essential functions of the job:
- Perform complex on-site diagnostics and repairs on commercial lawn mowers and 2-cycle engines (string trimmers, edgers, back blowers).
- Maintains service vehicles, trailers, inventory, tools, and equipment conditions.
- May establish and implement effective stocking processes to maintain the proper seasonal parts inventory.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
- Completes all required forms and paperwork for work assignments.
- Account for all time and materials being used during repairs and maintenance.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
JOB SKILLS AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions including wet, rain, snow, or extreme heat or cold
- Advanced understanding of mechanical equipment maintenance
- Critical thinking and ability to perform complex repairs and maintenance on equipment or vehicles
WORK CONDITIONS
Employees performing this job should be able and willing to drive or travel locally if needed. Schedules for this position may vary and may require flexibility to work extended hours. Potential work hours during the snow season include nighttime, weekends, and holidays to participate in snow removal activities. This position will require working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including rain, snow, sun, extreme cold, or heat.
. Requirements: Valid driver’s license is required, with an acceptable driving record to meet fleet insurance standards
Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test
Must be able to move and/or lift to 75 pounds consistently
A high school diploma or GED preferred
Ability to operate the equipment listed above, in addition to other commonly used landscaping equipment
Expert knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair and/or maintenance of equipment and vehicles
