About us

St. Paul Christian Day Care and Kindergarten is a non-profit child care center founded in 1975 and governed by a Board of Directors known as St. Paul Outreach.

The first official meeting of St. Paul Outreach Board of Directors was held on February 1, 1975. As a result of this meeting St. Paul Christian Day Care opened its doors in September of the same year with 13 children enrolled. The Center quickly grew to capacity, 20 children, by the end of the second year of operation. In 1979 this board approved a Kindergarten classroom to be added and started with 13 children being served. In 1981 Day Care Sunday was established and the children and their families were welcomed to sing at the second service at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Our Center has changed over the years and we are the best we’ve ever been! Since opening we’ve served more than 1,000 children in the community.

St. Paul Christian Day Care and Kindergarten accepts toilet-trained children between the ages 3 and 6 for participation in either our half day or full day ExceleRate Gold Circle of Quality program. We are proud to be the only center in Villa Park to have been recognized as having a quality program and given this prestigious award.

St. Paul Christian Day Care and Kindergarten is looking for dynamic, DCFS qualified teaching staff, who are passionate about providing developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for the children each day.

We are looking for someone who is Lead teacher and director qualified by DCFS's licensing standards (60 semester hours & 21 hours in ECE coursework along with 1 business course completed or 1 administration course completed). You also will need to have your Level 1 Director's Credential from ExceleRate or able to obtain it within 30 days of being employed.

Our hours of operation at 7am - 5:30pm. Our staff are scheduled to meet the needs of the children at the center. We have a flexible schedule with our staff to maintain coverage.

Top pay- based on experience, degree and ECE credential levels. Health insurance provided after 30 day start up period!

Responsibilities

• Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children
• Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, play based hands on activities, art, science, literacy, math, etc.) to teach children
• Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
• Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
• Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum

• Track children’s progress and report to parents
• Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and psyche
• Collaborate with other educators
• Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards

Skills

• Proven experience as a Preschool Teacher
• Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
• Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
• Excellent communication and instructional skills
• Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
• Certification in child CPR
• At least 2 years of experience working with children that are 3-5 years old
• Meets requirements set by DCFS to be considered a director qualified lead teacher'

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
