Salary: $165,000 - $165,000 / year
Summary:
The Vice President of Operations is responsible for planning, managing, and coordinating the entire range of activities of all branch locations. Manages, coordinates, and adjusts organizational processes and facility operations as needed to ensure the smooth execution of policies and procedures, company profitability, and sales growth. This role is also critical to demonstrating and fostering a team focused on leadership, coaching, training and development, communication, labor management, process improvement, and strategic planning.

Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership overall branch locations to establish short and long-term strategies, goals, and actions necessary to achieve aggressive growth targets, while fostering a culture of accountability, high performance, professional development, and ethical behavior.
- Oversee and manage operations in Oregon, California, and Washington.
- Designs and implements business strategies, plans, and procedures that promote collaboration and a positive culture and vision for the organization.
- Champions the safety programs at the branch level and oversees the execution
- Accountable for the operational budgets and measurement and effectiveness of all operational processes - internal and external.
- Leads the development, communication, and implementation of effective operational strategies and processes by setting comprehensive and clear performance goals that support the company’s strategic plans.
- Ensures customers have an outstanding customer experience with our branches, by establishing customer service standards, increasing technology adoption/utilization of our employees and customers, and providing all the necessary skills training to our people.
- Reviews systems and processes for automation. Makes recommendations on automated process improvements and capital expenditures to increase efficiency and production.
- Develop the company’s operational strategy that is driven by data and key performance indicators
- Executes processes and key performance indicators to measure effectiveness and drive cost efficiencies.
- Oversees staffing, training, and performance evaluations to further company sales and operational agendas
- Assures the distribution network and resources adequately support requirements and priorities to create customer value addressing elements critical to business success.
- Responsible for the appearance of external branch buildings, showrooms, and branch warehouses, as well as adherence to daily operational duties, the safety of our employees/customers, and the safety/appearance of delivery trucks.
- Oversees and the audit functions at all locations and supports Customer visits to understand customer issues, determine root cause, establish and drive corrective actions, and improve customer satisfaction.
- Partners with Sales, and Supply Chain on customer-related issues and driving claims to resolution where escalation is needed.
- Utilizes metrics and reporting to effectively monitor processes, report on performance, drive improvement, and provide cost savings to the business.
- Establishes key branch operational metrics to measure performance.
- Reviews sales activity and forecasting and sets performance goals accordingly
- Analyzes profitability and controls operational expenditures to conform to budgetary and company requirements.
- Recommends or approves budget and expenditures.
- Monitors and evaluates the activities and services of the competition.
- Participates and /or supports sales department, and sales-related activities as required.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field required plus 10+ years of management experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Background wholesale distribution is a must. Understanding the business and how it is run as well as knowledge of warehouse logistics and branch operations
- Proficient in coaching others (minimum 5+ years experience) and experience coaching/leading other managers and peers in operational activities.
- Exposure to HR processes and practices.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must possess strong business management, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Requires monthly travel to branches in Oregon, California, and Washington.
- Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to operate on an Executive level as part of a high functioning, results-oriented team.
- Requires extensive proven experience in establishing both long and short-term goals, developing comprehensive business plans to achieve those goals, and executing the business plans. Requires a proven record of exceeding expectations, regarding both financial and non-financial metrics. Requires the ability to effectively work with other team members to create a healthy organization and a culture based on respect, trust, cooperation, and commitment.
