Vice President of Operations Job at Summit Recommerce Group

Summit Recommerce Group Richmond, VA

About us

Summit Recommerce Group is a fast-growing network of resale franchise stores in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. Our 17 Kid to Kid and Uptown Cheapskate stores serve their local community by offering a convenient and rewarding way to recycle clothing, accessories, handbags, and kid's things.

Our stores are designed to mimic the mall, with first-class fixturing, merchandising, and product presentation. We want to make second-hand shopping the first choice of teens, parents, and their kids.

Ranked #529 in the Inc 5000 for 2022!

We are seeking a candidate with a background in the retail or restaurant industry that is driven, highly motivated, and wants to grow in a critical leadership role that will expand over time. Summit Recommerce Group has grown from $600,000 in revenue in 2016 to more than $12mm in 2021. We are targeting $20mm in revenue by 2024, and are adding this position to our leadership team in order to support that continued growth through same-store sales increases and store expansion.

The right candidate will have experience managing teams, managing costs, and have a genuine love of retail. Experience in resale is a plus - whether it's a love for thrift shopping, Poshmark hobby, or experience shopping in secondhand stores. We recognize that resale-specific retail experience is rare, and are willing to train a candidate that loves to learn, is curious, and is comfortable testing and learning from failure.

Our stores are located throughout Pennsylvania, Virginia, and North Carolina, and we welcome a candidate living in any of those locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn and master the operational systems of both Kid to Kid and Uptown Cheapskate stores - from inventory management, to customer service and efficiency standards, to scheduling and reporting.
  • Use that knowledge to oversee managers and district managers within our network. Be extremely responsive to the managerial teams and be available to help them solve in-store problems through coaching and mentoring.
  • Visit each store regularly to evaluate, train, and improve operational outcomes. (anticipated travel of approximately 50-70 days per year).
  • Manage used and new inventory through reports and in-store rack allocation.
  • Ensure all in-store standards are being met and stores are improving regularly.
  • Work directly with the CGO, CFO, and CEO on new stores to be opened.

We're a small business, and there is opportunity for upward potential or equity compensation as this individual proves themselves in our network. We are willing to craft a job to the right candidate. We value honesty, problem-solving skills, and passion for building businesses. We want an entrepreneurial thinker and someone who is hungry to take the next step in their career.
