The Vice President of Development at RMHC-CNI is a vital role with an opportunity to build relationships with a wide range of influential people including Chicagoland McDonald’s owner/operators, local business leaders, passionate philanthropists, our Board of Directors, healthcare provider partners at world-class hospitals, and, most importantly, the families we serve. The person in this role is responsible for leading a well-skilled fundraising team, providing guidance, support, and over-all strategy for the Development team.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, directly reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the person in this role is charged with engaging with their peers and providing strategic direction for development activities, ensuring a well-coordinated donor-centered approach. Key to success in this role is developing, implementing, and executing a comprehensive and results-driven fundraising program incorporating individual and planned giving, corporate support, and foundation grants.

We are looking for a leader who has:
Passion for fund-raising and the experience to match
- Expert knowledge in all aspects of nonprofit philanthropy including individual giving, campaigns, major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, direct mail, digital fundraising, and planned giving. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of senior-level fundraising experience.
Instinct to lead and collaborate
- Experience working closely and collaboratively with leadership peers across teams to translate program strategy into compelling fundraising opportunities
- A track record of leading and scaling development programs utilizing strong mentorship and team leadership skills with the ability to cultivate an environment in which staff are set up to succeed
A desire to understand and be understood
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with storytelling acumen, and the ability to craft widely accessible, donor-friendly materials
- Superb relationship management and interpersonal skills, including the ability to inspire and hold internal and external stakeholders accountable
Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana exists so families can get better together. Each night, we keep 172 families close to the care and resources they need through six area Ronald McDonald Houses® and three Ronald McDonald Family Rooms®. Enabling families to stay close to their hospitalized child supports the health and well-being of the child and saves families more than $10 million in hotel and food costs each year. We also operate the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile® program, providing medical care to children in underserved areas. RMHC-CNI is an independent not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
