Veterinary Assistant/Technician Job at U.S. Government
***No prior Experience Needed***
-Description: As an Veterinary Assistant, you'll help provide medical care, management, and treatment for government-owned animals and civillian pets. You will prevent and control the spread of diseases from animals to humans. You'll help the veterinarians conduct routine exams, administer medications, and perform surgical and emergency procedures for animals. It’ll be your responsibility to ensure the best possible treatment, so the animals can provide a great service.
JOB DUTIES
- Assist Veterinarians with ultrasounds, x-rays, surgeries and exams.
- Conduct surveys of the animal, including checking temperature, checking their mouth/teeth and feeling for any abnormalities in their skin.
- Complete physical examinations of all animals.
- Collect samples including blood and urine, ear swab, skin swabs and postmortem samples and then run laboratory tests on those samples
- Will properly restrain animals prior to an exam, for the safety of veterinary staff and the animal.
- There may be times where you will assist in euthanasia of an animal.
- Animal care is not always scheduled. You must assist in emergency situations and be able to work under the pressure.
Those with or with out Experience:
- You will attend our 22 Weeks Veterinary Technician School.
During our Veterinary Technician School you will receive:.

Upon completion of the course you will be a Certified Veterinary Technician. ***All training will be counted as college credit***
Requirements:
- Must have a ID card (state id preferably)
- Must be US citizen
- Must be 17 to 31 Years Old
- Must Have High School diploma or higher education.
- Must not have felonies.
- Must meet our Tattoo Policy
- Must Pass our ASVAB(Armed Service Vocational Aptitude Battery Test)
- Must be willing to travel
- Must be willing to sign a contract
