Abode Services, one of the largest and effective nonprofits working to end homelessness in the Bay Area, is seeking a skilled Driver/Warehouse Material Handler:. This position is part time, at a maximum of 20 hours per week.

SUMMARY::

The Driver/Warehouse staff delivers and picks up household goods from our clients throughout the Bay Area and works with inventory in the warehouse. This includes driving a 24ft truck and making furniture deliveries and pickups as needed. When not driving staff will work in the warehouse inventorying incoming donations, cleaning or polishing furniture and staging deliveries. Through our Sunnyvale location and partnerships with over 100 social service agencies, public schools, and faith communities, BAFB helps on average 75 families every month to stabilize their lives by providing them with the basics that turn their housing into more comfortable, functional homes.

• Ability to load and unload trucks
• Ability to drive 24ft truck
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. throughout the day
• Ability to comprehend and follow detailed daily task sheets
• Great customer service skills
• Inspect all incoming donations and enter items into inventory
• Organize inventory and put away all incoming donations
• Other duties assigned in warehouse when not driving

How You Meet the Qualifications::

• 3 years' experience driving larger vehicles
• Current auto insurance, CA Driver’s License, and clean DMV record required. Class C license required
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to take and follow detailed directions.
• Ability to complete paperwork and basic reports.
• · Ability to build supportive and respectful working relationships that instills hope. Sensitivity to and understanding of the special needs of the homeless.
• Proven ability to work independently, as well as an effective member of a team and a collaborative.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and evenings
