TPWD MISSION
To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Social Media Coordinator, this position performs highly complex (senior-level) informational and communication work including assisting with agency social media communications and serving as the primary administrator of the Texas State Parks main social media accounts. Serves as a liaison between the Communications and State Parks divisions to produce social media content that builds public support for Texas state parks. Creates content aligned with agency mission and responds to questions from the public. Assists Social Media Coordinator with tracking analytics and managing agency social media accounts. Helps agency social media coordinators manage and grow their accounts. Takes initiative for suggesting/implementing ideas to connect new audiences with outdoor recreation via social media. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Digital Media, Communications, or related field.
Experience:
Three years experience with creating social media content for an organization.
Licensure:
If driving is required applicant must possess a valid State driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of best practices for communicating via various social media platforms, including but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and YouTube;
Skill in posting content to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter;
Skill in distilling information into short, engaging social media posts;
Skill in creating graphics using Canva or other graphics software;
Skill in effective verbal and written communication;
Skill in basic photography;
Skill in shooting and editing video for social media;
Skill in using Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel;
Skill in time management and multi-tasking;
Ability to research and prepare information;
Ability to design communication plans and materials related to the goals and priorities of the agency;
Ability to train others in social media tactics and strategies;
Ability to accurately follow instructions;
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision;
Ability to exercise sound judgment when making decisions;
Ability to work as a member of a team;
Ability to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 30 lbs.;
Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Required to work 40 hours per week that includes various schedules, hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with days off other than Saturday, Sunday, and holidays;
Required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed;
Required to perform manual labor, including lifting supplies and materials up to 30 lbs.;
Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules, and safety procedures;
Required to travel 25% with possible overnight stays;
Required to operate a State vehicle;
Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
