Kratos is actively recruiting for an Systems Engineer (STTR-Space Test and Training Range). The STTR ensures safe and secure operations and provides its customers with realistic space environment to support test, training, and exercise activities. The STTR provides support from its Schriever operations center as well as deployed CONUS and OCONUS locations. The STTR operates in planning teams comprised of active-duty military, reservists, government civilians, and contractors that work with STTR customers to plan test, training, or exercise events. The job also includes being on crew for event execution. Travel will be required for days to attend planning conferences and meetings of one to three weeks to support event execution. Also requires the ability to occasionally work non-standard and/or extended shifts.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Responsible for short range (>5 years) planning of architecture framework for the NSTTC from the line unit perspective. Identify specific capability gaps based on analysis of current range capabilities and range user requirements.
- Develop & maintain short term roadmap documenting technologies and capabilities addressing NSTTC capability gaps
- Responsible for long range (5 to 15 year) planning of architecture framework for the NSTTC from the line unit perspective. Identify specific capability gaps based on analysis of current range capabilities and range user requirements.
- Develop & maintain long term roadmap documenting technologies and capabilities addressing NSTTC capability gaps.
- Develops initial operational capabilities requirements (white papers, capabilities need statements, etc…) for specific capabilities selected for prototyping or production.
- Coordinates products with government staff at the Delta and Command level to ensure consistency of and integration with planning/requirements documents at those levels.
- Coordinates and clarifies operational requirements with the JT4 Engineering and Integration (E&I) Department’s current projects team for capabilities selected for prototyping or production
- Coordinates with the JT4 Advance Programs (AP) Department to ensure AP capabilities are accounted for in planning considerations
- Coordinates with the Operations and Maintenance Flight for concept of employment/operations considerations as well as strategic intelligence considerations impacting roadmap and requirements development.
- Develops and provides briefings on architecture, roadmap and capabilities to JT4 and government leadership. Use established policies, procedures, and subject matter knowledge to complete assignments of medium complexity that vary in nature and sequence
Required Experience:
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid DOD Top Secret clearance
- US Citizenship
- Has the knowledge, experience and demonstrated the ability to perform tasks related to the technical/professional discipline.
- Has the ability to work independently and apply the proper procedures and process related to their area of expertise.
- Has ability problem solve and troubleshoot various situations to develop successful outcomes within established program/project guidelines.
- Advanced Degree (MA/MS) and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 years of which must be in the DoD OR, BA/BS degree, and 15 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoD OR, 20 years of directly related experience with proper certifications, 8 of which must be in the DoD.
Desired Qualifications:
- Military experience or working in a military environment
- DoD Test experience
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
- Working knowledge of STTR
- Familiar with Agile Processes and Ceremonies
