Job description

Brad Young & Associates, Inc. is seeking a Graduate Engineer/EIT to join our team. There are many opportunities for the successful candidate to grow professionally within our company. The successful candidate will work directly with and under the guidance of our team of licensed professional engineers on projects throughout North America.

Responsibilities will include:

· Developing structural calculations

· Coordinating and guiding construction drawing development with our in-house drafting department

· Working with building departments to obtain building permits

· Working with the construction team as needed during construction

· There is also the opportunity to travel to job sites throughout the country. We frequently have to travel to job sites to gather information on existing buildings so that we can engineer a proposed remodel. It is a great opportunity for someone who wants to see more of the country and the different types of building construction you find as you move around the country. We also realize traveling is not for everyone and it is certainly not a requirement for the position.

Job Qualifications

· 2+ years of progressive structural engineering experience performing structural design at a structural engineering firm.

o We will also consider candidates with less experience but with a strong educational background including excellent grades and recommendations from college department heads. Some industry experience through internships and/or a full time job will be a significant benefit.

· 4-year college degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis

· Civil Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certificate

· PE license is a significant plus

Essential Knowledge/Skills

· Ability to perform basic vertical, lateral, and foundation calculations for a building design

· Working knowledge of various vertical load resisting systems and materials.

· Working knowledge of various lateral load resisting systems and materials.

· Working knowledge of various Foundation systems and materials.

· Working knowledge of applicable building code requirements when designing with the four major building materials; concrete, masonry, wood, and steel.

· Working knowledge of applicable building code requirements for Seismic, Wind, Snow, and Live Load design.

· Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

· Proficiency using AutoCAD to navigate and edit drawings

· Fundamental knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
