SR ORACLE DBA Job at Fayetteville Public Works Commission

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will be responsible for the administration and maintenance for all Oracle databases including on-premise and DBaaS instances. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: database installation, backups, recovery, patching, data refresh, data replication, performance monitoring, configuration management, complex query creation, problem resolution, testing, ad hoc reporting, and the gathering & documenting technical requirements. The DBA must be an excellent communicator and be able to work independently, be result oriented, and be able to analyze problems and identify appropriate resolutions.
The Oracle DBA role requires a service-oriented mentality, a high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating, and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Provide shift and non-shift support for Oracle databases, maintenance, and for projects.
- Meet service level agreements for production support response and resolution.
- Maintain, upgrade, patch, troubleshoot, and tune Oracle 12c, 19c, DBaaS, Data Guard, OEM, CRM, and ERP Oracle Databases.
- Contribute to technical discussions related to database performance, analysis, enhancements, technical design, data integrity, disaster recovery, and related projects.
- Utilize Change Management controls to implement Code changes in Production and Non- Production instances.
- Utilize core database skills to maintain key processes like archiving, monitoring, replication, integrity, and security.
- Implement, test, and maintain a disaster recovery plan.
- Follow Oracle documentation, software lifecycle and development methodology, support lifecycle, industry trends, version control and testing, and migration standards.
- Excellent communication skills, Self-starter, ability to work in a team as well as take individual responsibility
Requirements:
- Must be an experienced and established Oracle Applications DBA technical skills
- Extensive technical understanding that spans multiple platforms and application-level expertise of a portfolio of applications with broad knowledge of the business strategic priorities, in order to resolve complex problems
- Detailed understanding of Oracle 11g, 12c, 19c, 21c, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, DBaaS, Data Guard, OEM, CRM and ERP Oracle Databases.
- Experience in generating, monitoring and escalating Oracle Service Requests (SR's) through Oracle Support.
- Knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control Installation of Oracle databases
- Apply Oracle patches that involve security patches / bug fixes in non-production and production environments
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems.
- Deliver technical analysis and expertise on licensing Oracle products, including Data processing and scripting using Python, SQL, PL/SQL, Linux Shell Scrips.
- Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models using RMAN.
- Create a reliable backup strategy. Ensure database backups are appropriately executed proactively manage and maintain security standards and controls
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for Oracle
- Experience in Oracle Software licensing and OCI Resource Management.
- Strong knowledge and application of ORACLE APPS Database administration tasks ( patching, concurrent Managers, users and responsibilities, code promotion, index rebuilding, configuration etc.)
- Strong hands-on technical knowledge Oracle Enterprise or Red Hat Linux 6.X/7.x or beyond
- Meticulous attention to detail

- Excellent organization and time management skills
EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Virtual Machines, computer/servers, personal computer, communication equipment, and other equipment and software, as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (either)
(A) Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration or closely related field. Seven (7) years of work experience in data base administration planning, design, configuration, installation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement and security management with at least one (1) year of experience as a lead administrator. OR
(B) Graduation from an accredited two (2) year college/technical school with an Associate’s degree/certification in Electronic Data Processing, Computer Science, or Business Administration and a minimum of eleven (11) years of experience as defined in (A) above; OR
(C) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and a minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience as defined in (A) and (B) above.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Oracle DBA certification preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
SAFETY HAZARDS: Minimal.
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: As required in the Public Works Commission’s Safety Manual.
