Otterbein University seeks a Social Media/ Multi-Media Design Specialist join our team in the Office of Marketing and Communications, Division of Enrollment Management and Marketing. This is a full-time/exempt/12-months per year position.
The Social Media / Multi-Media Specialist is responsible for designing, creating, and managing visual and multi-media deliverables that will help inform, educate, and inspire audiences through communicating through social media as well as through print media, digital Web-based, and audiovisual communications. This creative colleague will support creative multi-media projects and will implement Otterbein’s social media strategy, develop brand awareness, generate inbound traffic, and encourage institutional support among constituents and stakeholders. Works collaboratively in a team environment; translates creative briefs and brainstorming sessions into visuals, layouts, and designs for print and digital; supports special projects and contributes to the work of other team members. This role helps ensure consistency in voice and cultivating a collaborative social media network.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

(25%) In coordination with the Director of Communications leads institutional social media strategy, *implementation and analytics; develops and executes a social media strategy that helps strengthen and increase awareness of the University’s brand; generates and promotes University content across appropriate social media channels; develops and implements social media guidelines and policies for University-affiliated social media accounts; monitors and analyzes the University’s social media analytics; ensures compliance with University social media guidelines and policies by media account users from departments and divisions across the University; maintains list of all users and passwords for approved accounts; serves as the voice of University social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Flickr, and any additional outlets; oversees Social Media Advisory Team to enhance and coordinate content on University Social Media channels; uses Hootsuite or preferred platform.

(20%) *Supports social media advertising and promotional activities; develops social media content that supports Admission marketing; identifies and trains students featured in Otterbein’s weekly Tuesday Takeover program; assists with writing, research, graphic, and social media ads deliverables to meet deadlines manages social media ads based on approved budgets and timeline.

Assists Director of Creative Services and Senior Director of Brand and Content Strategies with the design and production of traditional graphic design needs* which includes, but is not limited to: individual assets to full layouts for materials like magazines, brochures, booklets, and other print documents; layout and production of letters, postcards, table tents, and similar custom prints; institutional communication, signage, and other promotional and informational deliverables; as well as graphic assets used to support marketing and advertising campaigns including billboards, infographics, print ads, posters, brochures, collateral, and magazine layouts.

(20%) In coordination with the Senior Director of Brand and Content Strategies, and the Director of Creative Services, this colleague will assist in conceptualizing, designing, creating, and editing a range of print, digital, and/or Web-based deliverables.*

(5%) *Other duties as assigned; serves on division and university committees.

Minimum Requirements:* The successful candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple projects while meeting client expectations and maintaining professionalism and should possess superb organizational skills to accomplish deadlines and projects in a timely manner. Bachelor's degree required, Minimum 2 to 5 years' experience in design, communications, public relations, and/or social media. Must have strong customer service skills and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Must be able to work independently. Candidates chosen to continue in the process will be asked to demonstrate their ability and knowledge with a portfolio of work (graphic, multi-media, and social media).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The successful candidate should command the use of the Adobe Creative Suite for graphic design purposes. Additional consideration will be given to candidates who have familiarity or skill in utilizing Adobe After Effects, WordPress, Microsoft Office, and other software for motion graphics and/or media editing. Experience and/or interest in photography and/or videography desirable. Excellent communication and collaboration skills will further this candidate’s success and collaboration with the Marketing and Communication Team. Competency in oral and written English (including proper English grammar). Competency in basic math. Must possess the ability to use general office equipment including office PC. Must be able to spend prolonged periods of time working out of an office PC; must be able to manage work that the position is responsible for completing; must be able to work under deadlines and with interruptions. Must be able to meet regular and predictable attendance standards.
