Shop Tech Deburr I
Overview:
This position is primarily responsible for the Deburr of various types of machined parts as well as perform other shop process and equipment like code marking and presses. The incumbent must be an individual who is detail-oriented and can multi-task, performing various machine shop related activities in a manner that complies with company requirements (i.e. regulatory, safety, administrative, etc.). This position requires effective contact with shop and management to assure quality and priority requirements are met.
Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize the appropriate tools, including, but not limited to: high speed, hand held deburr tools with abrasives, drill presses and various hand tools, to remove sharp edges from critical valve components.
- Effectively perform parts inspections utilizing the appropriate measuring equipment/instruments before moving to next operations.
- Review documentation and inspect material to ensure conforming product is produced in a safe and efficient manner.
- Read and interpret documents (i.e. blueprints/technical drawings, operation/tool/set-up sheets, routers, procedures, ECN's, etc.) in an effective manner to produce conforming product on a timely basis.
- Participate in troubleshooting activities to resolve issues, as directed
- Coordinate work flow from one work center to another work center, as directed
- Set-up and operate engraving / laser marking machines.
- Set-up and operate presses for in process assembly procedures.
Additional Duties / Responsibilities
:
- Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to all regulatory and internal system requirements.
- Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, etc. and support actions to drive company initiatives/goals

Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/shipping & receiving environment, including, but not limited to: fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration
- This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).
- Temperature of work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures, machining processes, etc.
- This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 8 hours, Monday through Friday. Overtime and weekend work may be required, as job duties demand.
- No travel is expected for this position.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Some basic machining experience
- Self-motivated, with the ability to analyze, organize, plan, multi-task and achieve results
- Finishing and/or buffing experience
- Ability to read, interpret documents (i.e. blueprints/technical drawings, operation/tool sheets, procedures, ECN’s, routers, etc.)
- Ability to utilize basic machine shop tools in an effective, efficient, safe and consistent manner
- Effective verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with all levels of personnel within the organization
- Computer literate, with MS Office/PC experience
- Must be a US Citizen.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
- The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- The employee is regularly required to stand at length (7-8 hours, daily), sit, walk, stoop, bend, turn, balance, and/or crouch, and move about the facility.
- The employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 40 pounds.
This position is at our Montville, NJ office location.
