The Role

The Sr. Product Manager is responsible for building differentiated and defensible product and market segment positioning and go-to-market strategy based on an understanding of market dynamics and buyer needs –– in relation to Grass Valley products. Collaborates with the respective Business Units to determine customer requirements, product positioning and key drivers for use in demand generation activities. Other strategic contributions may include sales training, developing analyst relations, helping to manage third-party alliances and market sizing & analysis. Works with marketing communications to translate positioning into sales tools and market-facing materials and ensure that sales and marketing teams are aligned. Attention to detail and the ability to grasp and translate technical capabilities into customer benefits are essential.

The main responsibilities:

  • Product responsibilities include AMPP Tools and Infrastructure Configuration, Control and Monitoring solutions
  • Develop product positioning, descriptions and highlight specific problems solved by each respective solution in order to create messaging that differentiates your offerings to the market
  • Investigate and understand customer requirements and maintain detailed, on-going knowledge of customer expectations related to your assigned products/applications via cross-functional interactions with sales, service and other departments, as necessary
  • Plan and manage market launch of new products and releases and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan
  • Communicate the value propositions of the products to the sales team and reseller channels and manage the implementation of the sales tools that support the selling process of your products
  • Analyze competitors and their value propositions to create competitive analyses and competitive positioning profiles for use collateral materials and sales tools
  • Analyze market data and conduct market and product research in order to contribute to market analysis and market sizing activities within assigned Business Unit
  • Create Thought Leadership content relevant to assigned solution areas for use in public relations and branding activities
  • Represent the company at tradeshows/events and in customer-specific meetings in conjunction with sales team activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or marketing or equivalent
  • 8+ years of software or hardware product marketing experience
  • Experience in a broadcast or media content-related field preferred
  • Very strong written communication skills
  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues and cross-functional teams, as well as third-parties.

Working conditions:

Travel up to 30%
