Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction, or equivalent practical experience
  • 20 years of experience leading User Experience for multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience managing and coordinating global teams within a business growth and strategy setting
  • Experience creating, executing, and delivering against a pipeline and driving business impact

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience delivering end-to-end solutions for a variety of consumer applications and platforms, with particular emphasis on front-end mobile and web technologies
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional leadership in Engineering, Product, Marketing, Research, and Operations
  • Expertise in multiple design disciplines, creating UX at scale for organizations
  • Depth and breadth of knowledge that enables ideation and development of creative and innovative solutions
  • Deep business acumen and interest in life-time value driven services
  • High quality UX leadership skills or accomplishments

About the job

The YouTube Shopping team is looking for a Senior Director of UX to drive design strategy and help set product priorities as YouTube invests in the future of online shopping across many user journeys and surfaces. As Senior Director, you will partner directly with the YouTube Shopping General Manager and other executive cross-functional teams to define and deliver on the next iteration of the YouTube Shopping experience.

In this role, you will use a deep understanding of the user with business acumen and ability to drive excellent product development. You will influence product strategy, as well as the overall Shopping roadmap. You will look to connect teams and products, working across product areas to ensure YouTube can grow.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $278,000-$425,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Create and drive a compelling outlook and direction for the YouTube Shopping experience for diverse users across multiple surfaces including YouTube Main App, YouTube Shorts, and YouTube Studio.

  • Lead, manage, and evolve a team of passionate UX designers in the San Francisco Bay Area and Zurich, Switzerland. Travel between sites and off-hours meetings are expected.
  • Communicate and advocate for your outlook in diverse leadership forums with the YouTube Shopping cross-functional leaders.
  • Drive an inclusive culture, orchestrating across a range of functions to produce nonpareil designs, and ensure collaboration, transparency, and clarity between multiple teams and functions.

  • Build strong relationships and operating rhythms with leaders to socialize and synthesize experiences that are cohesive, inclusive, and well-informed.
