Security Guard

Reports to: Plant Administrator

Part-time: 32/24 hrs/wk

Purpose/Description

The O’Neill Security Guard will be responsible for securing premises and personnel by patrolling property during non-business hours. This position will monitor surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points. This individual should feel comfortable obtaining help by sounding alarms and taking responsibility to prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers.

Tasks:

• Monitoring O’Neill campus and buildings during overnight & non-business hours.
• Ensuring the safety of the O’Neill resident community.
• Serving as the first point of contact for all calls during non-business hours.

• Prevent unauthorized individuals from entering restricted areas; at times using non-lethal weapons and physical force to maintain security.
• Assisting and caring for others
  • Provide first aid or rescue assistance in emergencies.
  • Respond to emergencies to provide assistance.
• Communicate with supervisor and campus community; this includes requesting emergency personnel when necessary and documenting and recording any activity on campus
• Serve as the first point of contact in regards to campus life during non-business hours.
• Resolve conflicts or concerns presented by the campus community.
• Complete nightly lock-ups, and frequent patrols of campus throughout the evening.

Experience/Job Requirements

• Past experience working in security is preferred.
• Ability to walk/run and exert oneself physically for an extended period of time.
• Knowledge of security systems, and ability to provide creative solutions.
• First Aid/CPR Certification is preferred but not required.
• Prior experience working in a customer service capacity, often interacting with a variety of people.

Compensation/Benefits

• $16.00/hr

• Paid Training in the following areas: CPR/First Aid & Mental Health First Aid

• Paid Licensing in the following areas: CT Security Guard License
