SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Sanitation Manager the sanitation tech is responsible for efficiently and effectively cleaning and sanitizing equipment in the assigned areas to meet expectations.

HOURS

Thursday and Friday 10 pm to 7 am

Saturday and Sunday 6 pm to 6 am

Off Monday-Wednesday

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The sanitation technician is responsible for efficiently and effectively cleaning the Process and Packaging Equipment and controlling the use of chemicals that affects the overall business.

1. Must follow plant safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE when cleaning and sanitizing and ensure fellow employees safety.

2. Responsible for cleaning in assigned areas and assist others when complete.

3. Monitor use of all chemicals to proper concentrations and notify Manager of excessive usage.

4. Sanitize equipment before starting production.

5. Must practice good personal hygiene, follow GMP’s and keep their department in good sanitary condition.

6. Must maintain their attendance within company guidelines outlined in the employee handbook.

7. Must be able to maintain a positive attitude while in a pressure situation.

8. Expected to communicate effectively with all department and plant personnel.

9. Expected to be safety leaders, and to exercise proper personal judgment in order to ensure their own and fellow employees’ safety.

10. Required to work extended and flex schedules on the weekends as the needs of the business dictate.

11. Required to fully participate in all end of the week cleaning in all areas, as well as other duties assigned by Sanitation Manager.

12. Work schedule will be Thursday through Sunday

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/Or Experience

Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma and one to three months related experience to become familiar with equipment and cleaning processes.

Language Skills

Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos and write simple correspondence. Must be able to effectively present information in a one-on-one or small group scenario.

Reasoning Ability

Must be able to apply common sense understanding detailed written or oral instructions. .

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, tools, or controls; reach above shoulders; and talk and listen. The employee is occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and use foot/feet to operate equipment. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing this job the employee is occasionally (or regularly) exposed to the following environmental factors: cold, extreme heat and humidity. Exposure to Caustic soda, Muriatic acid and other chemicals associated with sanitation.
