Position Summary
The Designer will be responsible for the development and preparation of engineering and/or architectural designs and drawings using AutoCAD, Revit and BIM and ensuring that design drawings conform to specifications and design data. Responsibilities will include the preparation and interpretation of engineering designs, drawings and specifications for architectural, structural, electrical and mechanical for building layouts. AutoCAD/Revit technicians use computer modeling software to create technical drawings and three-dimensional building designs. They work closely with architects and engineers to develop plans for clients. Revit technicians need to have excellent artistic, technical, and computer skills.
Key Tasks
Following is a general list of tasks falling into the areas of responsibility of the CADD / Revit Technician. It attempts to present a comprehensive, but not complete, listing of potential assignments that may be undertaken.
- Extensive knowledge of Revit, BIM, AutoCAD are essential.
- Develops BIM model in accordance with the appropriate level of detail for each project
- Manages project files relating to BIM/CAD documents within the project folder structure
- Create and check design information with consideration for accuracy, completeness and adherence to client specifications, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, municipal and local regulations/standards
- Collaborate with Architectural and Engineering disciplines to complete designs and resolve challenges
- Generates 2-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) layouts and drawings using AutoDesk software
- Revit / BIM model, layouts, and drawings from detailed design 3-D CAD model with minimal guidance from others
- Works independently in the preparation of 3-D CAD design model under the supervision of experienced
- Ensures that all drawings and documents are in proper format, comply with company and industry standards and specifications meet the quality, cost and productivity objectives of both the company and the customer
- Drafts/generates plans, elevations, and detail drawings in AutoCAD and/or Revit from redlined drawings, sketches, existing drawings, or site photos
- Reviews design models, drawings and design documents prepared by others in the group and by material suppliers, as assigned.
- Compiles, maintains and accesses job drawing files, records, and drawing controls.
- Works with designers in other disciplines to coordinate overall design and technical requirements.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook etc.).
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Training Requirements:
- Min. 5 to 10 Years of experience, sound knowledge of CAD design and drafting techniques using Revit / S3D / AutoDesk, engineering drawing, graphic arts, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline
- Capable of hand holding the team as Revit/S3D super user or specialist. Able to solves issues related to S3D for users
- Familiarity with relevant design standards and guides, skill in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups
- Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline’s design responsibilities.
- Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, and codes relevant to the discipline
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of architectural and or structural engineering design, detailing and modelling
- General knowledge of technical responsibilities of other groups associated with the total design effort
- Experience in using Navisworks for model review and clash detection, proficiency in SPR
- Skill in leading the technical work of less experienced designers and/or drafters who share in the design effort
- Able to work in a team and cross functional environment
- Federal project and task order experience (Defense and/or Civilian Agency), preferred
- Must have proficiencies with industry standard software such as Revit/BIM and AutoDesk CAD
- Architectural or Engineering Degree or Building Technology Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution, specializing in Architectural or Engineering studies or equivalent combination of training and experience, preferred

- Must be able to read and interpret complex project blueprints/plans and specifications; to include site/civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
- Willing to take direction from senior team members, as well as mentor others in the Design team in your area of expertise
- Must be able to prioritize, assign, and oversee work on multiple concurrent work.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Must be able to pass background check and drug screen.
