The Center for Injury Research and Policy, located in The Abigail Wexner Research Institute of Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a part time Research Aid/Research Intern (up to 20 hours per week) to work projects focusing on sport-related concussion prevention and control or teen driving safety projects. The person in this position will conduct research activities under the supervision of the principal investigator, Dr. Ginger Yang and in collaboration with Dr. Yang’s team members. The Center for Injury Research and Policy is one of 9 CDC-funded Injury Control Research Centers and focuses on the prevention of injury among children and adolescents. Its faculty members are active in injury research and prevention on local to global levels. Center faculty members teach and mentor students at The Ohio State University and from across the nation. Its global injury research program includes ongoing projects with its affiliate faculty in low- and middle-income countries and a visiting scholars program. Responsibilities:
- Implement study protocols, surveys/instruments, and other data collection tools for the project.
- Conduct study participant recruitment, consent, enrollment, and study data collection.
- Conduct literature searches on relevant research topics.
- Communicate with co-investigators, team members, and advisory committee members.
- Collaborate with other research team members and provide support to other staff as needed.
- Perform miscellaneous related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Current undergraduate student enrolled in a public health or relevant program.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Willing to work outside regular business hours and weekend as needed.
- Experience in injury prevention and violence research or behavioral research.
- Participated in organized sports (past or current).
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to see, hear, speak, read and perform manual tasks with or without accommodation and care for oneself, with little or no difficulty.
- The job may include sitting for extended periods, talking on the phone/in person, typing on a computer keyboard, standing/walking for extended periods.
