Position Summary

Provide quality, well-maintained equipment; prompt, accurate service; and in-house technical support.

Essential Job Functions

Consults with customers to determine rental needs and prepares rental quotes accordingly.

  • Answers customer calls professionally and promptly.
  • Creates rental quotes based upon customer criteria, budget and available equipment.
  • Immediately and accurately enters orders.
  • Determines auxiliary customer needs when appropriate (media, batteries and other supplies)
  • Sends customer order confirmation via email or fax.

Pulls inventory and prepares orders with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Verifies and checks quantities.
  • Tests all equipment and systems. Notes the general condition of all equipment looking for signs of damage or misuse.
  • Checks for compatibility of equipment and verifies interconnection to customers’ equipment.
  • Ensures orders are accurate and complete.
  • Confirms payment and security deposit.
  • Secures authorized signature(s) on contract(s).
  • Verifies equipment list with customer upon pick-up/delivery.
  • Assists customers in loading orders into vehicles as necessary.

Delivers, installs and operates equipment and systems as rental orders require.

  • Performs necessary tasks including audio or video recording, lighting operation, video and data projection, PA system operation, etc.
  • Always maintains a professional and presentable demeanor and appearance.
  • Troubleshoots and remedies problems to ensure professional results.

Ensure returned equipment is properly accounted for and in good working order.

  • Carefully accounts for rental equipment on check-in sheet, verifying quantities of all items.
  • Notifies customer of missing equipment at the time of check-in.
  • Restores items to default settings and prepares equipment for the shelf.
  • Cleans and wraps all cables according to department standards.

Maintains and repairs rental equipment to fully working and safe conditions.

  • Assesses the need for equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Performs maintenance and/or repair as skills allow. Informs manager of maintenance/repair requirements beyond his/her abilities.
  • Maintains equipment, cables, shop tools and shop condition to provide functional equipment and a safe, clean work environment.

Provides technical support to Full Compass Systems (FCS) departments and staff.

  • Sets up and operates equipment and systems for FCS events and meetings.
  • Provides technical expertise to support sales, service and other departments.
  • Recommends equipment purchases for the Rental Department.
  • Supports sales department by facilitating in-house demos and arranging rental orders for demo equipment.

Manages database

  • Accurately processes invoices and returns.
  • Accurately enters customer information.
  • Updates data as required.

Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Working knowledge of various types of equipment, including:

  • Audio equipment: mixers, wireless systems, microphones, DSP, amplifiers, speakers and recorders.
  • Video: video cameras, still cameras, decks, switchers, projectors, etc.
  • Professional stage lighting: dimmers, controllers, stage fixtures, intelligent lighting and special effects.
  • Trussing, staging, and rigging
  • Soldering iron, multi-meter, test equipment and hand tools.
  • PCs and Macs

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of electronics (both standard and high voltage) and safety requirements.
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends and special events as needed.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Ability to advise customers of the technical operations of the various products in the video, audio, and lighting industry

Work Environment

Work is performed indoors and outdoors, with frequent travel outside of the office. Must be able to sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; and lift and move objects weighing over 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination, and corrected hearing and vision to normal range.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
