About the job: Performs entry-level work in the Parks and Recreation department. Performs a variety of job tasks related to facilities operations and maintenance at an assigned facility and / or park. Work is performed under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Hours of work: 40 hours per week. Required shift work including days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Days/hours are subject to change.

Assists with recreation, athletics, fitness, and special events- Opens, secures and monitors park/facilities for public use
- Handles all park/facilities reservations and participant registrations, inputs monies and maintains accurate records for financial reconciliations
- Provides assistance in moving and setting up equipment for recreation, athletics, and special events
- Assists with ordering supplies and equipment; keeps track of inventory
- Serves as staff for the front desk as needed; Responds to telephone inquiries regarding department activities and events
- Conducts entry level recreational and athletic programs
- Assists in planning and monitoring programs for all ages
- Ensures the safety of all program, activity and event participants and providers by following City policies and procedures and monitoring participants' activity
- Greets visitors to the office and recreational facilities
- Performs other duties as assigned and/or required
High school diploma or GED; supplemented with six (6) months of work/volunteer experience in the planning and implementation of recreation programs is preferred; the City reserves the right to consider alternate combinations of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
Must have a Florida driver's license, Class E and CPR/AED certifications must be obtained before being hired and maintained throughout employment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Skill in Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel)- Skill in providing good customer service
- Ability to multi-task while working with tight deadlines and shifting priorities
- Ability to quickly and independently learn new software
- Ability to organize work for timely completion
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to clearly communicate and understand information in English, both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Ability to regularly attend work and arrive punctually for designated work schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work and may require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of heavy objects or materials (up to 80 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station and extended periods of standing and/or walking.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, fumes and/or poor ventilation, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature and noise extremes, machinery and/or moving vehicles, vibrations, electric currents, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, gases or chemicals, oils and other cutting fluids, violence and/or disease, or pathogenic substances.
SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Some tasks require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity. Some tasks may involve identifying and distinguishing colors.
- Age and years of service for vesting and early retirement requirements are lower for those enrolled in FRS prior to July 1, 2011. Average final compensation is based on five years for those enrolled in FRS prior to July 1, 2011, and eight years for those enrolled on or after July 1, 2011.
Upon completion of five (5) through nine (9) years of service - $500
Upon completion of ten (10) through fourteen (14) years of service - $1,000
Upon completion of fifteen (15) through nineteen (19) years of service - $1,500
Upon completion of twenty (20) years of service - $2,000
