Professional Librarian II, Systematic Reviews, Winston Salem Job at Wake Forest Baptist Health
JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision from the Director of the Library but with considerable independence, the Systematic Review Librarian is responsible for assisting with systematic review services for Carpenter Library. This position will help researchers and students navigate systematic reviews from protocol to publication and conduct systematic review searches. Working with a small team of librarians at Wake Forest School of Medicine, the Systematic Review Librarian supports research initiatives; promotes evidence-based practice in health science research; and collaborates with faculty, preceptors, residents, and students to support activities leading to the creation of high quality evidence and published research.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in Library Science from an accredited American Library Association School, three years’ experience in an academic or medical library and preferably two years’ experience with systematic reviews.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide systematic review services
- Assist researchers and students with navigating systematic reviews from protocol to publication
- Develop and conduct advanced level search strategies including systematic reviews and/or meta-analysis
- Assist with use of citation management software such as EndNote
- May develop online information literacy tutorials in support of research strategies and evidence-based practice
- Train others in systematic reviews to ensure quality of service
- Stay current with trends in medical education and in systematic review process
- Provide in-depth reference and instruction services
- Conduct in-depth reference services to faculty, staff, students, residents and preceptors
- Provide instruction on effective searching and evaluation of results for biomedical databases, evidence-based practice resources, and point-of-care tools. Provide instruction on such topics as evidence-based medicine, online proprietary database searching, and systematic review procedures and protocols
- May train students, faculty, staff, residents, and preceptors on the standards and protocols for systematic reviews such as Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews (PRISMA)
- Responds to reference queries submitted via email, phone or chat in a timely manner
- Collaborate with colleagues at Carpenter Library and possibly WFU Libraries
- Engage in professional and/or subject discipline organizations where needed; engage in research or publishing that will have a significant and positive impact on Carpenter Library; and advance the strategic plans of the library and the university
- Market the library’s resources and services through personal Research Guides, newsletters, web pages and departmental visits
- Participate in the Clinical Medical Liaison program as necessary. Attend meetings in designated clinical department(s), providing instruction on medical literature searching for clinical problems, providing bibliographic management support for publishing efforts, and showcasing clinical resources provided by the library

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Experience conducting systematic reviews
- Knowledge of library procedures as well as biomedical and educational electronic resources
- Familiarity with sources of standards and protocols for systematic reviews
- Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews (PRISMA)
- Knowledge of systematic review software
- Experience in using citation management software such as EndNote
- One year of experience in instruction and reference in an academic library setting
- Knowledge of Cochrane, Web of Science, Embase, PubMed and others
- Familiarity with evidence-based practice
