Job Responsibilities
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, energetic individual to serve as Print Shop Supervisor. Under general direction, this position will serve as working supervisor of staff engaged in printing operations. The position will manage and supervise the operation of the Xerox Docutecs and/or off-set system, power and manual paper cutters, automatic collating and folding machines, and plate-making machines. The position will provide advice regarding reproduction capabilities and possible problems with original documents. 1. Serves as Print Shop Supervisor
2. Manages and supervises the operation of the Xerox Docutecs and/or off-set system, power and manual paper cutters, automatic collating and folding machines, and plate-making machines
3. Provides advice regarding reproduction capabilities and possible problems with original documents
4. Consults with administrative staff in the planning, solicitation, and coordination of the Department’s printing services from the private sector

5. Plans for and oversees maintenance of inventory stored by contractual vendors for the Central Warehouse, which serves as the storehouse for statewide Agency projects and bulk storage for pamphlets, forms, billboards, paper supplies, printing proofs, etc.
6. Conducts management studies to determine weak or problem areas and the impact on programs caused by economic changes and Agency policy decisions regarding budgetary determinations
7. Maintains adequate inventory controls for the Unit
8. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school
2. Requires four years of experience encompassing all areas of offset press shop operations, including press, bindery, and plate making
Preferred Qualifications
1. Five years of experience in a print shop area directing and coordinating the production of materials on an efficient and quality basis
2. Two years of experience providing training and advice to staff to achieve efficient results
3. Two years of experience completing and maintaining necessary production, maintenance, cost, and employee records and reports
4. Five years of experience applying thorough knowledge of paper stocks and weights, ink types, and printing chemicals used in offset press shop operations
