JOB PURPOSE

Operates a shag truck which is responsible for the movement of forty-eight- and fifty-three-foot trailers at a pork processing facility which ships an average of one hundred thirty loads per day. Follows Company standard operating procedures for the maintenance, cleaning, and disinfection of all department equipment. Adheres to all Company food and workplace safety policies when operating equipment and handling of trailers used for edible food products.

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

• Adheres to workplace safety policies and guidelines to ensuring equipment is operated to standard
• Ensure all policies, procedures, and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed, and complied with to reduce product and process variability
• Performs routine temperature checks on yard trailers acting and reports discrepancies
• Coordinates the movement of trailers to shipping docks and yards
• Works schedules as assigned and overtime when required
• Responsible for trailer/shag truck maintenance, cleaning, and disinfecting
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Assumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License is required.
• CDL is not required, but is a plus

• Minimum age is 18 years old

• Must be able to safely spot and back trailers into some very tight areas ensuring that no damage is done to equipment.
• Must be very cautious of pedestrians.
• Must have required knowledge and experience on operation of refrigerated trailers.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
