Job Description

AFC Urgent Care Denver is looking for passionate Physician assistants having at least 2 years of experience working in an Urgent Care or Family Practice setting. Having a great bedside manner and enjoying patient interaction is key to qualify for this position.

We expect our Physician Assistant to work independently and have the opportunity to focus on patient care only. Our compensation plans entail a base pay and a very competitive bonus structure.

Expectations of an APP

· Be almost fully-autonomous as a provider when working solo shifts

· Driven, focused, and personable to patients and staff alike

· Evaluate, diagnose, and treat in a patient-centric, evidence-based manner

· Comfortable seeing adult and pediatric patients

· Capable of interpreting EKGs, Xrays, and labwork

· Confident with bedside procedures such as laceration repairs, I&Ds, foreign body removals, joint injections/aspirations, nail removals, and perform adequate anesthesia including digital and regional blocks.

· Be DOT-certified within 3 months of joining

· Be efficient in triaging and managing high volume patient flow

· Respond punctually and appropriately to labs and imaging results

· Does not hesitate to consult fellow providers and lead physicians when necessary

· Communicate effectively with clinic managers, medical assistants, and technicians

· Ability to work two full weekends per month (required for full-time providers) and some holidays

· Available to work at various clinic locations

· Provide top-notch care within the scope of your license while maintaining an outstanding level of patient satisfaction

· Be approachable and recommended by patients for future care

· Garner favorable social media reviews as a testament of your excellence as a trusted provider

Leadership roles

· Grow laterally by becoming the specialist in your area of expertise

· Mentoring new APPs who join the team in areas of clinic and professional excellence

· Act as the “captain of the ship” when on-shift, and maintaining your professional cool in times of stress

· Available as a resource for interested provider candidates thinking of joining the team

· Discuss ways of resolving patient complaints with clinic staff

· Educate fellow physicians and APPs on technical skills and up-to-date, current clinical knowledge

· Take on quality-improvement projects and work with physicians to create clinic protocols

· Adaptable to company changes by working closely with lead physicians and the Medical Director

Your Credentials

· Medical/Master’s degree and certification

· Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Colorado

· Unrestricted Colorado DEA license to prescribe controlled substances

· BLS or ACLS-certified

· Solid experience in ER, urgent care, or fast-paced primary care
