Essential Duties:
· Support and train eye techs that need general phone training
· Help maintain all phone in-boxes daily
· Manage patient care concerns whenever necessary
· Check faxes for all clinics daily
· Proficiently navigate Medflow and Allscripts
· Follow up on labs/biopsies
· Initiating and following up on medication Prior Authorizations
· Complete FMLA paperwork for surgeries
· Review tech inbox daily for updated provider orders
· Create missing orders for imaging/testing
· Create, fax, and follow up on urgent/routine referrals to outside providers
· Triage incoming calls from the Hospital
· Scheduling minor procedures/testing then sending messages for Bookkeeping for auth
Additional Job Duties:
· Manage patient phone calls within your scope of practice and forward messages as needed to providers
· Become familiar with medical records, billing and insurance requirements
· Initiate and complete required prior authorizations
· Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records and keeping patient information confidential
· Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
· Oversee refills of patient medications; call patients with instructions from provider as directed
· Copy, scan and file all pertinent patient information
· Promote and instruct in the use of the patient web portal
· Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications
· Other duties and tasks may/will be assigned /removed as needed from multiple sources
Qualifications
Education/Experience
· Customer Service experience
· Basic Ophthalmology experience
· Ability to answer busy phone line
License/Certification
· Employee must be eligible for registration with the Washington State Department of Health
· Current healthcare provider BLS Certification
