Patient Insurance Coordinator

(Internally referred to as: Patient Accounts Benefits Coordinator)


Part Time (20 hrs/week)

Regular Schedule: Monday - Friday, 1pm - 5pm

Must be available for morning orientation/training

After 6 months - open to discussing (not a guarantee) working from home 1-2 days/week


Job Summary:

Carries out functions related to benefit verifications and other administrative functions to support Patient Accounts Department


Patient Account Management:

Review admissions paperwork from Referral and Admissions Coordinator daily.


Respond to incoming insurance verification, Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) and other eligibility and benefit related requests.


Verify Medicare Part A, Medicaid, and private insurance eligibility and benefits.


Support and back up Medicaid eligibility re-verification, insurance pre-authorization and required ongoing authorizations as necessary.


Submission of Notice of Elections (Bill Type 81A) to Medicare Part A and verify acceptances.


Prepare, enter, and/or distribute monthly claims data submissions and private pay balance billings.


Prepare and submit Non-Medical Additional Documentation Request (ADR) appeal faxes.


Payment Posting Back Up:

Retrieve all electronic payments and remittance advices for all reimbursable programs.


Accurately record payments received for all reimbursable programs.


Reconcile monthly payments received with those posted to Accounts Receivable.


Contract Administration Back Up:

Prepare, process, file and maintain travel patient contracts, nursing home patient-specific contracts and hospice therapy authorizations.


Prepare draft contracting documents and supporting addendums and exhibits.


Qualifications:

High school graduate or GED required.


Prior insurance billing experience and/or education equivalent preferred.


Intermediate level PC/Microsoft Office skills essential.
