General Job Summary

The Merchandising Specialist supports the development of national and regional merchandising initiatives, working closely with key vendors as well as marketing teammates as a member of the Category Management team. This position plays an integral role in communicating with stores and vendors to ensure accurate program execution at retail and is ideal for someone who wishes to move up in a Merchandising/Category Management position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Play a key support role in the ongoing development and execution of product rollouts and new store presentations for assigned categories.
  • Troubleshoot individual store issues in conjunction with the appropriate Category Manager, Marketing/SSC counterpart, and/or vendor, resolving discrepancies with orders, receipts, packing slips, etc. as needed.
  • Support the development of strong vendor partnerships, with prompt response and resolution to vendor issues and opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate vendor information and product level information including SKU, UPC, cost, style, model number and information, establishing new SKUs as needed.
  • Execute purchase orders for direct vendors.
  • Assist Visual Merchandising Team with vendor specific POP and fixture order placement and tracking.
  • Partner with vendors to gather photography, product samples and/or copy to support marketing initiatives.
  • Play an active role in the proofing of marketing materials prior to distribution.
  • Develop a basic working knowledge of Business Intelligence software reporting capability, to support Category Managers with weekly/monthly reporting where identified.
  • Lead the planning efforts related to annual Vendor Show activities, organizing show materials, floor plans and communication vehicles.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Skills, Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Interest or class work in Merchandising or Buying a plus.
  • Experience with Epicor a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic business environment
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, be highly self-motivated
  • Excellent people and organizational skills
  • Analytical thinker, team player, customer-focused, business minded.
  • Travel as required.
  • Standing, walking, lifting (up to 25lbs) and climbing.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
