Medical Records Specialist – Full Time Bensalem Job at Livengrin Foundation
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Prepares and mails copies of portions of medical records and appropriate correspondence to sources, per State and Federal statutes and Livengrin Foundation policy. Invoicing where appropriate.
- Organizes, manages, and ensures accuracy of scanning documents into current patient’s electronic records related to medical records and letter requests.
- Scans records and documents from other Livengrin departments and other outside facilities.
- Receives phone calls that are directed to Medical Records for various requests.
- Ensures proper releases are in the electronic medical record prior to any records being released.
- Arranges files for each calendar year to be put in storage as needed.
- Maintains supplies in Medical Records and notifies proper departments and make sure copier, printers and fax machine are running properly.
- Picks up mail in the mailroom for the department and meters mail as needed.
- Assists with data and information gathering as assigned by supervisor for various compliance purposes.
- Conducts chart audits for chart compliance, per State, Accreditation & Livengrin policy.
- EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year experience with medical records and/or chart audit.
- Previous experience in a medical environment or comparable office setting.
- Word processing experience.
