Astia is looking for a full-time (40 hrs/week) Medical Assistant (Spanish speaking a PLUS) or Spanish speaking receptionist to join us at our Abbotsford location. Although there are many facets to the role, primary responsibilities are: Greet, room and perform initial clinical screening of patients. This includes, but is not limited to, taking patient vitals, gathering patient chief complaint and medical history and documenting information in patient medical record. Provide clerical, administrative and clinical/procedural support to the onsite Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant and any other members of clinic staff. For applicants who are not medical assistants, Spanish speaking is a requirement. There is room for advancements and on the job training. Our team is extremely supportive and will assist in educational opportunities and training.

Other Key Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships and trust with our clients’ employees and their families.   • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing with patients and health care team.
  • Communicate to patients with normal test results annotated by provider and with corresponding documentation into the patient’s medical record.
  • Check clinic inventory routinely and sending supply orders to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform daily/monthly Quality Control in accordance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Standards (‘CLIA’).
  • Document immunizations in patient’s medical record and update in Wisconsin Immunization Registry.
  • Phlebotomy
  • EKG's
  • Flu Clinics
  • Prepare, stock and clean exam rooms as needed.
  • Chart Prep
  • Other reasonable responsibilities and duties as designated by Astia.
  • One or more years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant preferred. Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • An openness and an interest to work intimately and directly with controlled populations of employees and their families.
  • The ability and skill to interact socially, build trust, and be viewed as approachable.
  • An individual who is an advocate for patients.
