Job Description
Lilac is seeking a mechanical engineer to design and build lithium process equipment at lab, pilot and commercial scales. This person may travel to commission plants in the Western US and South America. This is a full-time position. This person will work closely with other mechanical and chemical engineers.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and operate custom small-scale or pilot-scale test setups for chemical or mineral processing equipment
- Develop 2D layouts / 3D models for process equipment / areas
- Develop part drawings for custom components, including all information required for fabrication of the equipment
- Enforce company safety protocols, and ensure design complies with relevant safety standards
- Clearly communicate project plans and findings to team members
Candidate Qualifications
- Degree in mechanical or chemical engineering or similar
- Experience with fabrication and hands-on problem solving
- Experience with fluid systems and basic P&IDs
- Proficient with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software, including stress and fluids analysis
- Highly organized with sharp attention to numerical and scientific detail
- Excited to work on a small fast-paced startup team
- US work permit
- Passion for innovation and sustainability
Preferred Skills
- Experience designing and fabricating chemical handling or mineral processing equipment
- Experience with pilot design and commissioning

- Salary range: $90K-$140K annually (commensurate with experience)
