Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
Under general supervision, serves as a student advocate and strategic partner for the Office of Student Affairs and Career Advising at the School of Medicine Columbia (SOMC) campus. Enhances the medical student experience and increases student success. Provides advice and counsel to the Office of Student Affairs and Career Advising regarding the overall student experience and serves as an advocate for the SOMC student body. Demonstrates commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in Student Services or related field and 3 years related experience, or bachelor’s degree and 5 years related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Student Affairs or related field and 5 years related experience or bachelor’s degree and 7 years related experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Experience in providing direct student support and an established track record of creating and maintaining educational and professional environments that are welcoming, inclusive, equitable, and support social justice. Ability to identify, develop, and implement programs and activities that will benefit the School of Medicine Medical Student Community. Demonstrate a commitment in advancing the mission/vision/guiding principles of the School of Medicine Columbia in setting priorities and conducting work. Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork, self-awareness, professionalism, and conscious leadership. Proactively seek opportunities to apply his/her training, experience, knowledge, and skills as appropriate to meet emerging institutional needs. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.
