- Owns R&D strategy, planning, commercialization, and program management for adjacent materials and technologies to our existing porous materials
- Leads the new materials (technology) introduction process / strategy. Coordinates between engineering, commercial and manufacturing teams for successful new material launches
- Oversees new material testing, new regulatory data, and identifying adjacent material alternatives specific to the target Life Science markets
- Builds internal processes that enable Porex to understand market potential and future customer base for new material options as well as technical feasibility that aligns to target Life Sciences markets
- Identify make/buy opportunities which enables Porex to get further integrated in the customers value chain
- Work with outside labs in completing Design of Experiments to validate new/adjacent materials in target Life Science applications
- Translate Voice of Customer from commercial team into data/information needed to determine new/adjacent materials needed to grow in the target Life Sciences markets.
- Establish supply chain for new materials and mitigating sourcing risks
- Partners with external resources and vendors that may accelerate innovation and market access
Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering. Ideally in Materials Science
- 8+ years of experience in new product development or innovation.
- A passion for material innovation and operating in white space
- Experience setting up and deploying market-facing strategies that align with technical capabilities to deliver significant growth
- Ability to analyze very complex market and technical problems
- Manufacturing experience with demonstrated ability to manage a materials innovation portfolio and roadmap that develops growth for key Life Science applications.
- Experience leading a team to successfully identify, develop, and launch new materials/products.
- Ability to travel 35%
- Proven ability to think strategically and innovatively and translate data and ideas into a market/business plan
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated capability to work and lead cross functional teams
- Ability to manage change throughout all levels of an organization
