This position is part of the Commercial & Residential Solutions platform of Emerson Electric, Inc., located at Emerson Digital Cold Chain, Inc., across from the weather ball in Chanhassen, MN. Hours for the position are 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., 8 hour days, Monday - Friday. Ability to work overtime is required in this position.

Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting production, process control, and monitoring the equipment on the production floor using a combination of various engineering process improvement tools, Quality, Statistical Process Control, and others. The Manufacturing Engineering Technician works with multiple departments to ensure production lines are supported and maintained.

Job Responsibilities

  • Data collection and process time study capability.
  • Implementation of SPC and DMAIC metrology for process improvements.
  • Perform production equipment programming.
  • Internal process troubleshooting.
  • Provide in-depth evaluation and feedback on production issues.
  • Provide root cause analysis regarding production issues.
  • Provide suggested improvements/solutions.
  • Support production operators.
  • Implement process procedures and processes for NPI products.
  • Visually identify circuit board defects using a microscope.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement.
  • Recommend changes to and participate in the review of manufacturing procedures.
  • Follow safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
  • Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.
  • Assistant in other areas as business necessitates.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2-year degree in Electronics or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with printed circuit board troubleshooting to the component level.
  • Basic knowledge of electronic components and their properties.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Willing to cross-train in other areas.
  • Results driven.
  • Ability to read and understand basic work instructions and identify specifications.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Job includes close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally required to walk while carrying trays, stoop, kneel, crouch and talk or hear.

Hourly Employee Work Shifts
The facility works both a 4-day work week and a 5-day work week depending on the assignment. Most jobs provide service and support to a specific shift, although some jobs provide support across both shifts. Our manufacturing production shift schedules are:

First Shift: 5:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday, overtime is required including Fridays.
Second Shift: 3:30 p.m. – 2:00 a.m., Monday – Thursday, overtime is required including Fridays.
