Position: Maintenance Tech
Who we are: We support seriously ill children and their families by providing housing and other essential support services at our facilities in Seattle, WA and Anchorage, AK. We are a nurturing staff that is dedicated to offering compassionate care to our families while they call Ronald McDonald House home.
Summary: The Maintenance Technician troubleshoots and/or repairs systems and their components ensuring a safe, comfortable, and functional space for our families. They complete inspections, service requests, preventive maintenance and other duties as assigned in an efficient and timely manner for the House.
Job Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent and minimum of 2 years building maintenance experience required, with knowledge in the following areas: Mechanical, Plumbing, Painting, HVAC, Carpentry and Electrical. Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures/techniques, as well as HVAC, plumbing and/or electrical trade certifications a plus.
Competencies: Excellent mechanical skills, self-starter, problem solving and decision making, flexible, effective verbal and interpersonal skills, able to interpret building drawings and technical manuals, electrical/tool safety practice, lockout/tagout procedures; physical ability to frequently bend, climb
ladders, reach and lift up to 40 pounds. Knowledge in the following areas, Mechanical, Plumbing, Painting, HVAC, Carpentry and Electrical.
Position Requirements:
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance as assigned in a safe, timely and efficient manner utilizing the CMMS.
- Perform room turn maintenance as a priority, second only to safety and emergent building systems issues.
- Perform daily exterior inspection of the buildings and grounds, picking up litter as necessary.
- Clean downspout strainers weekly.
- Spread deicer and remove snow when necessary.
- Perform floor care using brooms, mops, and auto scrubber floor machine.
- Ensure building garbage/recycling/food waste is emptied daily.
- Maintain mechanical space and parking garage cleanliness.
- Maintain a clean, uncluttered workspace.
- Ensure availability of necessary parts and supplies by reporting low quantities to supervisor.
- Check door operation and test battery powered egress lighting as scheduled.
- Report to supervisor items affecting proper and safe operation of equipment.
- Keep lines of communication open among the Staff Members and Volunteers.
- Work as a team member with all staff at the Ronald McDonald House, treating fellow staff members with respect and sensitivity.
- Execute other House responsibilities as requested.
- COVID-19 vaccination and face masks are required.
Hours, Rate, Benefits:
· This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week at our Seattle headquarters and reports to the Facilities Supervisor.
· Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 10 am - 630 pm.
· Starting Salary Range: $28-$35 per hour DOE.
· This position offers medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and life insurance plan.
· Paid Time Off: RMHC offers paid time off that includes 10 paid holidays, 12 sick days, 2 personal days and 10 vacation days. The number of vacation days increases with tenure.
· Employer will pay full ORCA transit pass.
