The ideal candidate will have exceptional culinary skills and the ability to work with a team. The Line Cook/Prep Cook will report directly to the Executive Chef. This position has the goal to exceed the guests’ expectations in the culinary experience.

Summary

York Beach Surf Club is hiring for a year-round or seasonal Line Cook to join our culinary team. You will ensure a consistent high quality, efficient and profitable kitchen by performing the following duties personally or through your culinary team. The ability to respond to our guests’ culinary requests will be paramount for the chef.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
You must be flexible and willing to assist in all culinary operations including the Restaurants, Event Spaces, Pool Dining and Pool Bar, Pop-Up Food Concepts, Private Dining, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Follows all kitchen cooking methods, recipes, policies, procedures, health safety, with manuals to ensure consistent quality, etc.
  • Ensure the highest quality levels, economical and timely food production.
  • Follows HAACP, Maine department of Health and Environment Control sanitation standards for all outlets.
  • Observes methods of food preparation and cooking, sizes of portions, and garnishing of foods to ensure food is prepared in a creative and contemporary style.
  • Responsible for timely preparation and execution of all menu items.
  • Ability to execute proper knife skills and handling, cleaning and servicing of required equipment.
  • Follows go lean as you go rule.
  • We have full-time hours available for both AM shift (breakfast/lunch) and PM shift (dinner service).
  • Daily activities of our Line Cooks include tasks such as preparing mise-en-place for a station and meal period; serving menu items with appropriate preparation and plate presentation; assisting other team members as needed; following quality and food safety standards, etc.
  • Qualifications for the Line Cook role include the ability to work a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends; being able to walk/stand for up to 5 hours at a time; and being able to lift/move up to 60 lbs.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.

Educations and/or Experience

Experience in restaurant, hotel or resort.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Requires food handler's card.

Physical Demands

The employee is required to be on their feet for long periods of time and able to lift and or move heavy objects up to 60-pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

Work Environment

The employee must have the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with above normal temperatures.
