POSITION OVERVIEW

The Productions Department is part of the Church Business Operations of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden and provides full-service audio/video production, live streaming, creative services, and AV technical support. We are seeking an experienced Lighting Designer/Operator for all on-site and off-site services and events. Sunday is a required full workday. The Lighting Designer/Operator will report to the Assistant Director of Productions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, installation, and operation of the lighting and special electrical effects used in all productions consistent with vision of client.
• Program and operate lighting console, install, maintain, replace and repair key, fill, backlight, set, effects, including haze/smoke.
• Set design, LED video wall mapping and operation
• Work with the creative team to come up with ideas.
• Design the lighting needed for the performance.
• Be aware of health and safety aspects.
• Write a lighting plot/script to note where there are any lighting changes.
• Attend technical rehearsals.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be saved, have a servant’s heart, and be a member, in good standing or willing to join and become a member in good standing of FBCG.
• Must be able to submit to authorities as defined by the Pastor.
• Must possess a gracious, Christ-like demeanor in demanding situations.
• Must have an understanding and appreciation for the ministry and the mission of FBCG.
• Requires 5 years work experience as a lighting designer/operator.
• Experience with various lighting tools (fixtures, riggings, dimmers, gels, etc.)
• Experience with lighting consoles.
• Theatrical and stage design experience, required.
• Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
• The ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
• Excellent colour vision.
• Must pass a hands-on skills test on-site.
• Must have the ability to pay attention to detail and have strong interpersonal skills to handle clients, employees, volunteers, and interdepartmental relationships.
• Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, have the ability to bend from the waist, reach overhead, twist, kneel, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs. without restriction.
• Must have the ability to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude while working under pressure.
• Strong understanding of safe working loads, safety factors and rigging principles.
• Ability to communicate both verbally and written is essential; must be able to speak fluent English.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, think quickly on your feet, be a problem solver.
• Candidate must be a creative self-starter who takes and demonstrates imitative.
• Ability to work in a constantly changing environment and effectively multi-task.
• Ability to work flexible hours and between multiple locations.
• Must be available for all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Must be willing to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift with little or no notice as needed.
• Must pass a hands-on skills test on-site.
