Under the direct supervision of the Full-Time Parks and Recreation staff, the Larson Ice Arena Supervisor is responsible for delivering a high quality, well-maintained facility by focusing on ice quality, operations, safety, fiscal health, and customer satisfaction.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete facility opening, closing duties, and regular arena checks
  • Promote, present, and supervise open skate programs
  • Sell and service rental equipment
  • Assist with daily ice maintenance by operating ice resurfacer
  • Perform custodial duties to maintain cleanliness
  • Address disruptive patrons
  • Enforce evacuation procedures if necessary due to medical or weather emergencies on the ice
  • Respond to emergency situations and assist patrons in distress
  • Act as a model for other staff members by demonstrating appropriate practices
  • Supervise staff members including but not limited to: referees, instructors, customer service staff, and rink guards
  • Inform patrons on facility rules and regulations
  • Work various part-time shifts including after school, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Performs duties in a manner consistent with safe practices and policies.
  • Performs other such duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.


Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to proactively greet customers; be friendly, professional, polite and helpful in dealing with customers and employees.Represent the City in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Ability to enforce all arena policies and applicable laws.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • The employee must regularly lift, carry and/or move up to 35 pounds (up to 200-600 times per week), frequently lift, carry and/or move moderately heavy merchandise up to 55 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
