Investment Data, Engineering Manager

MX continues to expand its data engineering capabilities providing our clients and their customers with increasingly more data about their financial state. MX needs an Engineering Manager with a mindset of efficiency, accuracy and practical application, leading a team of Data Engineers, and collaborating with Data Scientists, to build the investment data product that will take us to a new level of “finances as they should be”.
The ideal candidate will have a deep technology background, strong platform thinking, a passion for focusing on hard technical problems at scale, and the ability to collaborate with many teams and stakeholders to deliver industry leading products.. This position is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and expertise to the engineering team with responsibility for all aspects of engineering in the software development lifecycle.
Job Duties

Build and manage a high performance team of engineers

Design, build, launch, and maintain high quality software products with your team.

Empower sales, marketing, and support teams to sell and support the products you develop

Help define strategic objectives for your team and help them track, measure, and achieve those goals

Responsible for interviewing and selection of new hires.

Recruit, mentor, and coach engineering teams and drive a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and quality.

Help team members create their individual career development plans and provide them with resources and support necessary to achieve their career aspirations.
Requirements
-
Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or relevant field (or equivalent experience)

3 years of leading a team with direct reports.
-
5 years of software engineering with banking API's and data aggregation within investment
-
5 years of investment industry experience & backend trading systems experience
-
Strong knowledge of investment concepts and trading practices.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a varied set of audiences

Passion for empowering people to get their money to work for them.
Advanced Requirements (if you don’t meet these, please apply - we’ve seen success with individuals willing to learn)

Experience with Ruby, Python, Go, Java or C++

Worked with Kubernetes to deploy applications.

Familiarity with backend trading systems
The expected on-target earnings (OTE), which is comprised of a base salary and other forms of cash compensation, such as bonus or commissions is currently $150,000 to $191,50.This pay range is just one component of MX's total rewards package. MX takes a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including job and level they are hired into, location, skillset, peer compensation.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Travel expectations are about 15%, and the company covers travel expenses for remote employees.
