Housekeeper, Environmental Services Job at Mercy Medical Center - Cedar Rapids

This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by performing essential housekeeping functions throughout the hospital. Primary work will consist of disinfecting/sanitizing patient care areas and other areas of the hospital. Work is completed in a friendly, safe and sanitary way following infection control guidelines, universal precautions and directives from EVS Management Team.
Job Duties

Adapts to seeing and cleaning blood, body fluids and body waste.

Learns and understand EPIC software for transfers and discharges.

Operates hospital provided communication (Vocera) in a professional manner.
-
Cross trains in multiple areas, and helping out in other areas as assigned.

Empowered to always work in a safe manner around patients and coworkers.

Maintains a clean cart and cart closet.
-
Demonstrates proper use of chemicals.
-
Demonstrates proper use of standard precautions and infection control policies.

Strips, sanitizes and makes all types of hospital beds.

Replenishes patient supplies as needed or requested by the patient.

Reports any patient's belongings found to nursing immediately for prompt follow up.

Reports needed repairs or safety related items immediately to appropriate level of management.

Vacuums assigned area(s), uses and maintains equipment properly and safely.

Cleans assigned area(s) following the daily duty sheet.

Removes waste, linen, recycling, some equipment, and sharps containers.

Disinfects/sanitizes assigned work area using proper equipment.

Physical Demand Requirements

Medium: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs to waist and shoulder height on occasional basis.

Able to push and pull up to 25 lbs of horizontal force on frequent basis.
Location: Mercy Medical Center - Cedar Rapids · Environmental Services
Schedule: Full Time, Day, 5:30am and 7:00am start times, every other weekend
