Summary:
SKF is looking for a FPI Inspector to work in our site located in Winsted, CT. The FPI Inspector will be meeting or exceeding Company Quality Policies, Strategic Goals, Visions, and Values. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in Manufacturing Process and demonstrate a positive attitude towards working with their team. Due to the necessity of overall safety with the end product, and the nature of required procedures to be performed, the FPI Inspector is expected to meet visual acuity and color vision standards. Due to the nature of the business, each candidate must be a US Citizen.

Responsibilities Include but Not Limited to:

  • Achieve & maintain qualification per Q3001C002, including examinations & visual acuity testing.
  • Perform white/black light visual inspections on ceramics balls to SKF or customer specifications, at various magnifications, utilizing magnifiers, microscopes, etc.
  • Perform fluorescent penetrant processing.
  • Ensure applicable inspection equipment is in calibration before use.
  • Ensure applicable materials are identified clearly with HMIS labels.
  • Maintain cleanliness & orderliness of inspection stations and assure no balls remain from previous inspections.
  • Maintain penetrant baths, equipment, and standards.
  • Work safely around High heat ovens and baths using PPE.
  • Report inspection results clearly and accurately.
  • Identify and segregate and initiate Discrepancy Reports for nonconforming product.
  • Comply with stamp control procedures.
  • Ensure lot and sample traceability.
  • Read new and revised specifications when mandated.
  • Perform all tasks assigned by department Manager.
  • Support other Quality Inspection departments as needed thru Cross Training.
  • Work in a safe manner, at all times, alerting management of hazardous conditions.
  • Ensure satisfactory levels of cleanliness and housekeeping in all assigned areas.
  • Ensure confidentiality of proprietary or sensitive information.


Physical Requirements:

  • Due to the nature of the work, Candidates cannot have any Visual Color Deficiency.
  • Ability to work in varied postures:
    • Sitting, standing in general, for extended periods of time thru the day.
    • Leaning forward, turning side to side.
    • Transport product, gauges, racks, and baskets from one area to another.
    • Use of Hand Carts – pushing.
    • Walking in general
    • Pushing, carrying, or lifting up to max. 50 lbs.
    • Rolling thumb and fingers for ball rotation throughout the shift.


Skills for Success:

  • Previous experience in Manufacturing Process.
  • There are no formal education requirements.
  • Comprehensive communication skills in the English language electronically, verbally, and written.
  • Ability to provide a positive influence, encouraging teamwork to achieve goals.
  • Works collaboratively, maintaining proper communication in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.
  • Highly organized, analytical, and logical problem solver.
