Role Overview:
The Cost Accountant will provide strategic counsel to the organization by overseeing and analyzing cost expenditures and purchases within the organization. This position will involve reviewing services and goods, record data, and make recommendations about cost-efficient and financially feasible cost options.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

· Maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization

· Analyzes manufacturing costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual product costs

· Prepare and complete internal cost audits

· Plans, study and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor

· Analyze any changes in goods or services provided to determine what effect it has on the cost

· Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic report comparing planned, estimated and/or standard costs to actual production costs. Records cost information for use in controlling expenditures.

· Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services

· Assist in audits and general ledger preparation

· Recommend changes to the company’s processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profits

· Generate and analyze reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), to identify trends. Recommend and communicate improvement opportunities to stakeholders

· Assist in monthly and annual inventories, including but not limited to perform samples test counts and reconciliations.

· Prepare weekly, monthly and ad hoc analysis and reports.

· Prepare cost forecasts for monthly, quarterly, or annual operating schedules

· Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs. Makes estimates of new and proposed product or service costs.

· Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts

· Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles

· Investigate cycle counting variances and resolve issues

· Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies

· Plans studies and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor. Analyzes data obtained, records results and reports to management.

Qualifications/Education:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

· Certified public accountant a plus

· 5+ years of cost accounting work experience

· Strong communication skills

· Sound understanding of accounting principles

· Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills

· Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills

· Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Excellent report-writing, communication, and IT skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
