We are seeking a Construction Inspector - MEP to work based at our client site in Perth Amboy, NJ. This is a long term, temporary position. Responsibilities include coordinating and monitoring trade contractor construction activities. May involve on site management of one or more construction disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection).
Essential Functions:

  • Monitor construction schedules, cost estimates, and monthly construction progress reports.
  • Contribute in developing technical solutions to constructability or construction issues.
  • Attend periodic progress meetings.
  • Prepare daily field reports summarizing progress of construction and measuring payment quantities.
  • Prepare test reports, including accident reports, etc.
  • Communicate with team members on ongoing construction related issues.
  • Compare approved shop drawings with materials being delivered and installed as part of the work.
  • Review Contractor proposed modifications with team members.
  • Help resolve construction related conflicts.
  • Review work is being performed in compliance with the contract documents.
  • Issue deficiency reports for any defective work.
  • Perform walkthrough inspections and prepare punch list for any remaining work.

Qualifications
Needed Skills:

  • Strong Professional, Technical, Communication, and Leadership skills needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain productive relationships with employees, clients, and vendors.

Education/Experience Minimum:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience is required.
  • Minimum of 7 years inspection experience in the transit and rail industry or 5 years of experience in the transit and rail industry working for a contractor or public agency.
